有點晚的一篇。九月有點憂鬱，在不想做事的時間讀了兩本trans相關的書，玩了一些消磨時間的遊戲。

When Monsters Speak: A Susan Stryker Reader

新出版的Susan Stryker選集，Stryker是trans studies領域裏的知名人物了，但這篇文集其實並不很學術，十分好讀。三部分中的第一部分是Stryker早期的作品，基本都是在90年代民間酷兒/亞文化刊物中發表的虛構作品和小文章，有一些非常有意思的proposition，另外其中許多非常explicit的性/kink/SM相關描寫，令我大爲震撼。第二部分是在trans studies起步時期的一些學術文章，可以了解到當時的一些歷史背景。最後一部分包括Stryker最知名的，關於trans rage的文章"Words to Frankenstein"，以及此後的回顧和相關評論。下面是個人一些印象深刻的文本。

The surgeon haunts my dreams
有點autofiction但不完全是的一篇文本。idea是跨性別女性們往往都注意到，但卻不常常被言說的：進行下身手術的醫生幾乎全是男性，而這些男性掌控了跨兒們新的性器官的外觀和功能，而這一“病人-醫生”，“客體-主體”的不平等關係很容易蘊含着慾望的投射。本文以敘述者夢境這一場景表現了跨兒對醫療權威的複雜情感。
And I know, too, that He thinks more about how deep and fuckable He can make my cunt than He does about whether I'll be able to feel anything when I rub myself against a slick, wet thigh. （關於下身手術這一醫療手段中的異性戀霸權）
Materiality always resists the symbolic frame. I beg it, then, to throw all language off and become ungendered flesh, but language clenches this meat between its teeth in a death grip. Words and things together taunt me. (敘述者的內省，其無法拋離社會現有的語言&社會結構，因而仍然渴望手術)
As He falls upon me, I see the knife glinting in His hand, and I know this water will soon be turning red. When I lift my hips to meet Him as He enters me, He will surely see that nothing other than my desire brings Him here.
Perfect day
這篇發表較晚（2008年），比較像memoir，但寫得很好，好像一個長達幾十年的coming of age故事，但又沒有落入trans memoir線性敘事的窠臼。題中的“perfect day”是作者十九歲時，在歐洲旅行時意識到自己在關係上的某種酷兒性的時刻：
It wasn't much of a climax, my little epiphany, that afternoon on the ridge. It was more like something dropped away. I had been shedding bits of my familiar self for weeks, all across Europe, when another little piece of scale fell from my inner eye, and I found myself alone at last in a quiet moment of clarity and insight.
這是在作者經歷transition、多段性質不同的relationship這些混亂的時期之前，而此後這樣的“perfect day”經常被回憶起。這樣的“懷舊”我非常能理解和共鳴，因爲在那個特定的時間節點，未來的困難還並未到達，而自我認知已經處在一種（自以爲）比較清晰的狀況。
本文也有涉及許多gender/sexuality/relationship dynamic交叉的細節，在此不詳述。而在作者的幾十年後，關於“perfect day”：
(...) I look at my partner and think: I have a lot of perfect days now.
Isn't this what transition is all about?
Words to Frankenstein
這篇本來是一個現場朗讀/performance，通過文學經典中Frankenstein與跨兒處境做類比，嘗試reclaim關於“怪物”的概念。這篇已經過於有名，就不贅述了，但是下面這句對個人來說實在太重要了。
I want to lay claim to the dark power of my monstrous identity without using it as a weapon against others or being wounded by it myself.
Fierce Femmes and Notorious Liars

很有趣的一本書，主角是一個Asian trans girl。敘述口吻像memoir，但時而出現的一些超現實元素（美人魚、巫術之類）提醒着讀者這是虛構作品。主角算是對文學中少數羣體非現實的正面representation的一種反叛，但讀者又能深刻地理解到她的暴力和仇恨來源於成長過程中受到的壓迫。後半主角嘗試與自己&ta人和解，尤其是關於性和身體的side arc那裏，看得我爆哭(which doesn't happen very often)。

Hannah Gadsby: WOOF!

在紐約Abrons看到了Hannah Gadsby的新專場，感覺觀衆都是老粉了。這次的節目設計可以很明顯看出是Hannah Gadsby在想要嘗試一些新東西，而不是繼續走"trauma show"的老路。給人一種在figuring things out的感覺。聽開頭半小時的時候個人其實有點雲裏霧裏，直到後來隔了很久的callback出來才進入狀態。段子裏涉及的topic非常多，例如war, sports, Taylor Swift, social media, 再到Hannah自己的grief, anxiety, fame。從某種意義上可能是有點散，但可能這就是ta想表達的一種永遠焦慮的狀態。不過Hannah做crowd work調動觀衆情緒的能力依舊非常強大。
